Commitment with added value
At Zwick, sustainability means practiced responsibility. For fair and future-oriented action.

More than just a promise
We think and act sustainably. As a matter of principle.

For us, sustainability is more than just a promise - it is an integral part of our corporate principles. We focus on sustainable added value for customers, employees and the environment. Transparent, measurable, effective.

As one of the leading trading companies for stainless steel products in Europe, our aim is to reconcile ecological responsibility and economic efficiency. We therefore think of sustainability as a cycle of responsibility, innovation and continuous improvement and rely on well thought-out measures to minimize our carbon footprint and conserve resources.

We record data and facts in the areas of the environment, labor and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement in order to achieve transparency regarding our own status quo. Based on these as-is analyses, we develop targets and introduce effective measures to achieve the goals we have set. We review our degree of target achievement at defined intervals and adjust where necessary.

In doing so, it is important for us to have an overarching view from the outside in order to check our commitment. The EcoVadis rating helps us to recognize where we stand, what is already well developed and what potential we have. We have also made an ambitious commitment as part of the SIHK climate initiative.

We see it as our responsibility to actively shape the transformation and achieve measurable, sustainable success. The rating of our sustainability management by EcoVadis shows that we are on the right track. That is important to us.

Advanced sustainability performance
Award from EcoVadis according to international standards

The EcoVadis rating from November 10, 2024 confirms our sustainability performance. As one of the top 5% companies in our industry, we received a gold medal in the EcoVadis sustainability rating.

EcoVadis is a leading platform for evaluating companies' sustainability and corporate social responsibility performance. EcoVadis has defined 21 sustainability criteria for their evaluation and summarized them in the following four core areas:

  • Environment: measures to reduce environmental impacts such as emissions, energy consumption and waste management.

  • Labor and human rights: Compliance with standards to promote fair working conditions, equal rights and health protection.

  • Ethics: Measures to prevent corruption, compliance and the promotion of responsible corporate governance.

  • Sustainable procurement: consideration of environmental and social aspects in the supply chain.

We are proud that our commitment has been awarded with this good result from an external evaluation based on international sustainability standards in accordance with ISO 26000. This motivates us to continue our commitment consistently and ambitiously.

CO2-neutral by 2030
Measures of the SIHK's “Climate initiative CO₂-neutral by 2030”

  1. Increasing energy and resource efficiency
  2. Own generation of renewable energies
  3. Consistent transition to green electricity
  4. Offsetting of unavoidable carbon emissions

Regarding environmental protection, we are committed to the goals of the Paris Agreement. We have also made a commitment to make our site carbon-neutral by 2030 as part of the ‘Klima-Initiative CO2 neutral bis 2030’ initiative of the Southwestfalia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SIHK). The initiative is mapping out the way to climate neutrality on four different levels. To assess ourselves and gauge how we are doing, we have been producing an annual emissions report in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas Protocol since 2020.

Sustainably good working conditions
Expression of our responsibility: the Zwick administration building

Bright rooms with good acoustics and ergonomic workstations enable healthy and concentrated work. The building is prepared for large-scale photovoltaic systems, which will power an energy-efficient electric heating system. The first photovoltaic systems on the roofs of the warehouses are already being implemented. Our medium-term goal is to achieve an almost self-sufficient power supply for our site.
